The full press is waking up to the fact that self regulators tend to regulate in their own favor, not the consumer's. As to BrokerCheck, the phony-ed up "history" of a broker's claims, it isn't everything. Even in the most egregious and bad stockbroker cases, if there is a settlement (and the bad cases do tend to get settled) the brokerage firm demands that the consumers washout the history of the complaint. This so called expungement could never be done in Court. The history and fact of a case is always there, but not in the records kept by the broker sponsored firm.
The excellent article is found in the New York Times, and we hope there are more like it in the future.
This is another good reason to contact a lawyer experienced in this area. We can take action to find the complaints, many serious, which have been washed off the broker's "official" record. We know where to look and how, and will gather all the important information.
